Alan King’s Black Jacari and Cosmea head the market as the top jumps trainer puts his flat charges over the sticks for the first time this season.

Interestingly the former is the grandson of group one sprinter Danehill but the family resemblance didn’t make it through the generations with Black Jacari struggling to make a real impact on the flat scene. He did win a pretty decent contest at Goodwood in testing conditions early in his career which suggests he has the stamina for national hunt racing with many observers also thinking he looks every bit a hurdler.

Cosmea on the other hand was a progressive sort on the flat in stayers races so there is no doubt he’ll have the fitness for a jumping campaign. Alan King is the master at bringing on his horses into top racers so until the season gets underway you’d be brave to back against these two.
