Cooldine is the very early favourite for the Royal SunAlliance Chase as the bookmakers opened more markets for March’s Cheltenham Festival.

Willie Mullins’ six-year-old was a multi-grade two winner last season and was 11 lengths back from top chaser Blazing Baily in a race hotter than this promises to be towards the end of last year. Any ante-post wager on this animal comes with a bit of a warning though as he is a bit of a mud lark and it is possible he could bypass the festival if the ground is on the quick side.

Novice Hurdle champion Fiveforthree seems excellent early value at around 16/1 at the moment. Another of the Willie Mullins string, obviously knows how to win on the biggest stage, and has excellent consistency having only finished once outside the placings in seven starts. He also put in a decent display when slightly season weary when second in the Irish champion Novice’s right at the tail end of last season.

Many feel that Nick Williams’ new boy Beshabar will have a good season. The six-year-old has been pretty good in his first four trips to the racecourse and capped a progressive 2007/08 campaign winning a strongish looking grade three event at Sandown. This horse is best watched early on before deciding weather he is worth backing.
